Kyeyune returns home after difficult El Merreikh experience

Uganda Cranes midfielder Saidi Kyeyune is on verge of a return to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, The Touchline Sports sources can confirm.

The 27-year old is set to start training with his former side, URA FC early next week ahead of his proposed move back to the Tax Collectors in the next transfer window.

Kyeyune joined Sudanese Premier League side, El Merrikh from StarTimes UPL side Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) at the end of January this year on a one-year deal, but just after two months into the employment deal, his contract was terminated by the Sudanese Premier League side.

Before his contract was terminated, Kyeyune struggled for game time and featured in only two of Red Devil’s game in that period. He was also part of the El Merrikh’s players that tested positive for COVID-19 in March and missed several games during that period in isolation.

Kyeyune put up an impressive performance at the 2021 CHAN tournament in Morocco where he netted two of the three goals that Uganda managed to score at the tournament.

He started his professional football career at Maroons FC before he moved to URA FC in 2011 and was at Tax Collectors until when he departed for Sudan this year.
