Eric Kambale netted a brace on Wednesday evening to help Express FC fly past Onduparaka FC 2-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku.

With just ten minutes left on the clock, Kambale got his first of game after a dispatching a powerful shot from outside the box into the back net and just before the death of the game, he completed his brace with a sublime header to ensure Express remained unbeaten at home this season and garner their first victory over Onduparaka at home.

After a goal-less and boring first half, the game’s first realistic goalscoring chances fell to Onduparaka’s Noel Nasasira in the 56th minute but the forward had his effort parried away for a cornerkick by Cryspus Kusiima.

Express FC then fashioned a chance of their own through Martin Kizza but his header was just too weak to beat Moses Kagiri in the Onduparaka goal.

Express continued to dominate proceedings and substitute Frank Kalanda was unlucky not to find the breakthrough immediately after he came on John Byamukama as he saw his effort just rattle the crossbar before going out.

After relentless pressure on the Caterpillars backline, the Red Eagles finally got a breakthrough ten minutes after a moment of pure quality from Kambale. The forward dribbled from the midfield to exquisitely unleash a thunderous shot to caught Kagiri unaware in the Caterpillars goal.

Kambale completed his brace later on when he headed in from a Kizza free-kick after substitute Ivan Mayanja was fouled on the left wing.

The result sees Express FC consolidate their third spot with 43 points, four off the top of the standings while Onduparaka stay in 11th with 24 points from 21 games.

In their next fixtures, Express will take on Police FC at home while Onduparaka travel away to URA FC.
