Striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe has returned to KCCA FC on a two-year contract after his brief stint with Iraqi side Zakho SC came to an end after just 35 days.
The forward, popularly known as ‘The Hunter’, joined Zakho with hopes of continuing his career abroad, but the move did not work out as planned, resulting in an early separation between the player and the Iraqi club.
His return to Uganda comes after a few days of speculation linking him with a move to Vipers SC.
However, Ahimbisibwe has opted to return to Lugogo, where he enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign. He finished the season as the league’s top scorer with 14 goals and has now committed his future to KCCA for another two years.
His return comes at a time when KCCA have endured a difficult start to the new season, scoring just one goal in their opening four matches.
Ahimbisibwe said returning to KCCA felt like coming home and that he had no hesitation when the opportunity arose.
“If I was ever going to come back home, it was always going to be KCCA FC; there was never any doubt. This club treated me like family during my time here, and the love from the Cityzens was unmatched. When the chance to pull on this famous yellow shirt again came up, I didn’t need to think twice. I am back to finish what we started,” he said, as quoted by the club website.
His arrival further strengthens KCCA’s attacking options, with Charles Lwanga, Emmanuel Anyama and Kennedy Muserero already part of the squad.
If his registration and other paperwork are completed in time, Ahimbisibwe could make his second KCCA debut against former club URA on October 9, following the international break.
The return gives KCCA another proven goalscorer as they look to improve their attacking output and get their season back on track.
