Moïse Katumbi sacks head coach after CAF Champions League exit

Congolese side TP Mazembe has confirmed that they have parted ways with French head coach Frank Dumas.

This was confirmed by the club just a few hours after they were eliminated from the CAF Champions League at the final qualification round by Ugandan side Vipers SC.

This Saturday, October 15, 2022, President Moïse Katumbi and the coach, Mr. Franck Dumas, separated amicably. The president thanked the coach for the work accomplished and wished him a good journey. Mr. Franck Dumas, meanwhile, expressed his wishes for full success to TP Mazembe and its supporters .” Part of the statement released by the club read.

After drawing nil-nil on aggregate with Venoms, the Congolese side got eliminated from Africa’s prestigious competition in spotkicks after losing 4-2 on Saturday evening.

Furthermore, Katumbi has also suspended his entire club committee with immediate effect apart from Club Secretary Hilaire Kabila.

TP Mazembe has now dropped in the CAF Confederation Cup, and will play in the final qualifying round to progress to the group stages.
