It is an amazing and emotional experience – Ceferin

Aleksander Ceferin , President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) heaped huge praise onto the Aliguma Foundation in Uganda.

Ceferin was invited into the country by Aliguma foundation on Tuesday night for a one day visit  that enabled him to set sight on the Banda slums (Acholi Quarters).

There, a football tournament was played to showcase the Aliguma Foundation aims and targets in creating social impact through football leaving the Slovenian with a smile.

With very few people knowing what was going on in the area, alot of great works were executed by the foundation in the Kasokoso area slums and left many in wonders.

“It is an amazing and emotional experience as it helps us to know what real life feels like, I am really grateful to Ritah and the Foundation.” Said a happy Ceferin.

The visit ended with a prepared visit to the State house to meet the Minister of Education and sport Janet Kataha Museveni which didn’t happen.

Aliguma Foundation is one that was created Ritah Aliguma. They were one of the foundations in the world that twice received the UEFA Foundation For Children grant as part of the 65 humanitarian projects around the world.

The grant was worth 4.9 million (an estimated UGX19.1 billion shillings). The second was part of the 12 Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in Africa selected for the 2022 call alongside another 12 in Asia, seven in Central and South America, and two in Oceania.

The foundation stepped up its works re-developing the multi-purpose Acholi Quarters Playground and improving the structures and status of the Annual Banda Slums Soccer Tournament.

It also bought a 15-acre piece of land in Kinuuma Village, Masindi District and starting construction works at Aliguma Foundation Sports & Empowerment Center (AFSEC) as well as the initiation of other new fundamental projects like the “Ndi Mwana – The Cry of A Girl Child – the powers that be at the governing body of football in Europe were equally excited with the progress and are determined to ensure that the Uganda-based foundation continues to change lives of the less-privileged.
