The Uganda Cranes have added a new dimension to their midfield following the inclusion of Uganda-eligible central midfielder Noble Okello in the provisional squad for the June 2026 international friendlies in Morocco.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Okello stands at an imposing 1.95m and brings a rare combination of physical dominance, technical discipline, and international experience developed across North America and Europe.

A product of the Toronto FC Academy, Okello rose through the ranks after joining the setup at the age of 12. He made headlines early in his career in 2017 when he helped Toronto FC U17 defeat Juventus U17 to win the International Youth Soccer Cup.

He later progressed to professional football with Toronto FC II before featuring for the senior team, including part of the squad that won the 2020 Canadian Championship.

Okello also had a spell in Europe with Danish side HB Køge, where he marked his debut with a long-range goal, before continuing his career in MLS Next Pro and the USL Championship with clubs including Phoenix Rising FC and Indy Eleven.

Known for his aerial strength, ball-winning ability, and composure in possession, Okello adds both defensive stability and attacking threat from set pieces.

Internationally, he has represented Canada at youth level and in senior friendlies, but remains eligible for Uganda, clearing the way for his Cranes inclusion ahead of AFCON 2027 preparations.

His arrival signals Uganda’s continued push to integrate diaspora talent into the national team structure.
