The Bombers could be one of the most successful sports team in the Ugandan sports history.
Indeed, history shows it is only Boxing and Athletics (In general) that the Ugandan Flag has always been assured of being flown high at the global Stage judging from level of success that has been realised in the respective disciplines.
For many years Boxing as a Sport has provided Uganda numerous accolades and medals and has rarely disapointed on global stage.
The first Ugandan and East African Boxing medal was won in 1958 at the Cardiff City Commonwealth games in UK when Tom Kawere (the then Bombers’ Captain) defeated a Scottish opponent to win a Silver medal. That medal excited President Idi Amin Dada who ended up appointing Kawere as the national boxing coach in 1959.
