UFL: Sabiti late strike inspires SLAU past YMCA

Isaaya Sabiiti scored a late second half goal as St. Lawrence University (SLAU) defeated YMCA comprehensive institute in the University Football league game played at YMCA buwabo campus.

St Lawrence started the game with a high intensity, pressing from the first whistle as they looked to maintain their unbeaten winning run.

In the 13th minute of the game Kasule Ibrahim got the first scoring opportunity but his effort was saved by Mark Esalu the YMCA custodian.

The visitors continued to put up a beautiful display of the game as Bunyanga Bruno made his way to the box, dribbled past three YMCA defenders but his shot was blocked by Mugisha Bulasiyo in the 37th minute.

The half time came to an end as St. Lawrence University looked a better side whereas the hosts were playing a catch up game.

The second stanza kicked off with SLAU dominating on a high which resulted into a pay back of a goal from Isaaya Sabiiti in the 76th minute as he tapped home a beautiful cross from Kasule.

YMCA failed to capitalize on the home advantage as the visitors continued attacking in huge numbers also entertaining the fans with brilliant nutmegs throughout the game.

In the 85th  minute, Sseruwu had a chance to extend the lead to a 2 goal difference but his brilliant header was cleared away by Mark Esalu.

St. Lawrence University managed to hold onto Sabiiti’s goal as they walked away with a narrow 1-0 victory from Buwambo.
