Stanbic Uganda Cup: Express stunned by Adjumani in quarters

Record champions Express FC have been eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by FUFA Big League side Adjumani Town Council.

This is after the Big League defeated the Red Eagles 2-0 at the Paridi Playground courtesy of Michael Ajiga and Collensis Swadiki goals in each half.

Ajiga gave Adjumani the lead from a brilliant freekick as early as the sixth minutes while Swadiki doubled the host’s lead in the 70th minutes to ensure the game ended 2-0.

With the shock victory, Adjumani becomes the second FUFA Big League side in the Uganda Cup semifinals after Police ejected BUL FC on Wednesday.

Vipers also advanced to the semis on Friday after defeating Calvary FC.

The winner between KCCA and Soltilo Bright Stars will also advance to semis. The two sides meet each other on Sunday at the Kavumba Recreation Center playground.

BUL, who are now out are the defending champions of this Uganda’s prestigious tournament having defeated Vipers SC 3-1 in the final played in Masindi last year.
