Ugandan midfielder Allan Okello delivered another sensational performance as Young Africans S.C. stormed to a dominant 3-0 win over Singida Black Stars on Friday, reclaiming the top spot in the NBC Premier League while the star playmaker continued rewriting the club’s history books.

Okello scored for the fourth successive league game, becoming the first Yanga player to net the opening goal in four consecutive league matches — a remarkable milestone that highlights his growing importance at the Jangwani-based giants.

The match, played at the KMC Complex, saw Yanga move to 57 points, two clear of rivals Simba SC, who remain second on 55 points.

The Ugandan international opened the scoring in the 13th minute, once again setting the pace for a commanding Yanga display and extending a red-hot run of form that has made him one of the league’s standout performers.

Okello’s impressive streak began on May 6 against KMC, where his lone goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory shortly before the exit of former coach Miguel Angel Gamondi.

Under interim coach Abdihamid Moalin, Okello maintained his brilliance by scoring twice and providing an assist in Yanga’s emphatic victory over Coastal Union.

Despite Yanga suffering their first league defeat of the campaign — a dramatic 3-2 loss to Dodoma Jiji on May 13 at Airtel Stadium in Singida — Okello still managed a brace, though his efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

Determined to bounce back, Yanga started aggressively against Singida Black Stars and quickly took control of the contest.

After conceding early, Singida coach Muhibu Kanu made a bold change in the 23rd minute, replacing goalkeeper Metacha Mnata with Amas Obasogie. Mnata appeared unhappy with the decision and had to be calmed by teammates before leaving the field.

The tactical switch, however, failed to slow Yanga’s momentum as Mudathir Yahya doubled the advantage in the 41st minute to hand the visitors a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.

Yanga returned from the break with confidence, introducing Mohammed Damaro for Stephane Aziz Ki Pacome Zouzoua to strengthen the midfield as Singida attempted to respond.

The hosts also reshuffled their attack, bringing on Chikola for Lamine Jarjou, but Yanga continued to dominate proceedings throughout the second half.

In the 62nd minute, Prince Dube was replaced by Depu as the visitors rotated their attacking line.

With Singida pushing forward in search of a comeback, Okello struck again to seal the emphatic victory and complete another outstanding individual performance.

The brace takes Okello level with Prince Dube among Yanga’s top scorers this season despite joining the club midway through the campaign. In addition to his goal tally, he has also registered seven assists.

NBC Premier League statistics now show that Okello has achieved yet another extraordinary feat by scoring braces in three consecutive league matches — a record unmatched by any player in the division this season.
