FUFA Big League: Ndejje edge out Kataka in seven-goal thriller

Ndejje University picked up their first FUFA Big League victory on Thursday evening after edging Kataka 4-3 in seven-goal thriller played at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

The University side had to come from behind to secure their first victory of the season.

Kataka took the lead in just the fifth minute of the game through Francis Odongo but Ndejje responded quick afterward through Brian Obedi’s freekick.

Few moments afterwards, Kataka went ahead again through David Zaake’s header who rose high to head home from close range.

But once again, Ndejje levelled matter in quick succession- this time through Denis Otim who headed in a wonderfully driven Obedi freekick.

The game went into the break tied at 2-2, but with two players sent off. Ndyamuhaki Norman was sent off for Ndejje while Lazarus Ocire got off for Kataka.

After the break, Ndejje went into the lead for the first time in the game when Elia Assimwe found the back after being found by Samuel Nsubuga.

Kataka then levelled matters midway the closing half through Latif Ssenkubuge who headed in a long throw by Nyamaisi Stephen.

Ndejje University restored their advantage soon afterwards through Samuel Nsubuga who beat off all his markers and goalkeeper to find the target and steal all three important points for his side.

With the victory, Ndejje University moves to 9th spot on the log with four points while Kataka drops to seventh on also four points in as many games.

In the other games played on the day, Top-placed NEC drew goalless with Mbarara City in Kampala.

Police scored late on to secure a 1-1 stalemate with Calvary FC in Yumbe, Kyetume defeated Kaaro Karungi 2-1 in Mukono while Northern Gateway edged past Adjumani Town Council 2-1 at the Gate Stadium in West Nile.
