Match Day 6 continues as winless Vipers SC host Maroons FC in search of their first victory of the 2022/23 Startimes Uganda Premier League season at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday

The Venoms have only played two games drawing their first at home against Bright stars and losing their second away to rivals KCCA FC.

This will be their third of the season and an  opportunity to lift themselves up and collect maximum points with support from the home fans and history of the fixture.

Ahead of the game, Vipers headcoach Roberto Oliveira came out to affirm the trust in his players;

I trust my players, I believe in the group and the objective tomorrow is to play well and win,”

We have had specific theoretical and tactical training and it was positive, we received good feedback,”

We have to win this game for our future, as this club is big and needs to win every game. I believe in my capacity and the personality here.”

On the other side, Maroons who lie in 4th on the log will also look to take home the points after a good start to their season.

The Luzira side have played five games win two, drawing two and losing once hence collecting 8 points.

Despite not having the best of records while facing the Kitende side, Maroons will try to replicate their last performance against KCCA FC.

Club captain David Ndihabwe came out to that they respect Vipers but will try to win against them;

Maroons players celebrating their win against KCCA.

The best way to forget the past is to build new memories and we will look to do just that this Friday, as we will face one of Africa’s best teams, Vipers SC.”

They, fortnight or so ago, qualified for the CAF champions league group stage and the became only the second Ugandan team to achieve it – we recognise this and we respect it absolutely.”

Deviating away from this would not make any sense and would just make things easier for our opponents. We owe it to ourselves and to our supporters to aim to be the very best that we can be and the best way of doing this is by showing belief and being incredibly brave and so far,”

Last game.

Vipers lost their last game to KCCA 1-0 away from home while Maroons edged KCCA 1-0 at home on Match Day 5.

What would a win do?
