FUFA Big League: Mucureezi goal wins Kitara maiden title

A solo Mucureezi goal has helped Kitara clinch the 2022/23 FUFA Big League title as they defeated Kaaro Karungi 1-0 at the Kigaaya Grounds in Hoima.

This the teams’ first FUFA Big League title as they beat off competition from rivals fellow western side Mbarara City who also won 3-0 in their last league match of the season against Northern Gateway at home.

Kitara has won the trophy by a point with 61points from the 30 games played Mbarara City in second with 60 points.

In addition to the title, Kitara took home the accolade of the best goalkeeper as it was awarded to their goalkeeper Farouk Yawe.

On the otherside, NEC FC thumped Kataka away in Mbale to confirm their promotion into the Startimes Uganda Premier League with advantage of a one-all draw by Police FC at home.

On the bottom side of the log,Adjumani TC, Soroti City, Luweero United and Northern Gateway were relegated to their respective regional leagues.
