Diaspora: Aucho, Ojok, Mutanda and Lwasa all on target – How Uganda pros abroad fared over the weekend

One weekend before the Christmas break, but the football action continues in the different leagues across the globe. Ugandan professionals were in action and they produced some sublime performances. Bashir Mutanda, Deogracious Ojok, Khalid Aucho and Peter Lwasa all found the back of the net for their respective sides, while many also others had some productive playing time. This and more in our edition of how the Ugandan professionals abroad fared over the weekend.

Starting off in England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru was introduced in the 94th minute for goal scorer Andraz Sporar as Middlesbrough FC defeated Bournemouth FC 1-0 in the Skybet English Championship.

In Scotland, defender Bevis Mugabi featured full-time as Motherwell secured a 2-0 victory over St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

In Israeli, Timothy Awanyi featured full-time, while Fahad Bayo was an unused substitute as their side, Ashdod SC lost 1-0 to Hapoel Umm Al-Fahm in the Israel State Cup Eighth round. Still, in the Israel State Cup, Kizito Luwagga also featured full-time as his side, Hapoel Nof Hagalil lost 2-0 to Maccabi Petach Tikva.

In Tanzania, Khalid Aucho netted the winner and assisted the other as Young Africans FC defeated Prison FC 2-1 in the NBC Premier League. Boban Ziritusa featured for Mtibwa Sugar as they drew goalless with Kinondoni MC. Nicholas Wadada also featured full-time for Azam FC as they drew 2-all with Mbeya City.

In South Africa, Denis Onyango was in goal for Mamelodi Sundowns as they claimed a 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates to maintain their unbeaten run in the DSTV Premiership. Ismail Watenga was an unused substitute for Chippa United as they secured a 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United, while Moses Waiswa featured full-time as his SuperSports United side drew goalless with Sekhukhune United.

In Congo, defender Joseph Ochaya never made it to the matchday squad as TP Mazembe defeated FC Etoile du Kivu 1-0 in the Congolese Linafoot.

In Kenya, Deogracious Ojok netted the lone goal for Tusker FC as they defeated Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in the FKF Premier League. Still, in the FKF, Peter Lwasa netted for Gor Mahia as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Kakamega Home Boys. Fred Nkata also featured full-time for Gor Mahia. William Wadri and Umar Kasumba featured for Bandari FC as they drew 1-all with Kabariogo Sharks. Bashir Ssekagya was in goal for Wazito FC as they secured a 4-1 victory over Mathare United.

In Zambia, Hashim Ssempala featured for Kabwe Warriors as they lost 1-0 to Chambishi in the Zambian Premier League. Shafik Batambuze was out with an injury. Still, in Zambia, Keziron Kizito featured full-time as Buildcon drew goalless with Konkola.

In Swaziland, Bashir Mutanda was on target for Mbabane Swallows as they secured a vital 2-0 victory over Malanti in the Swazi MTN Premier League.

In Rwanda, both Emmanuel Okwi and Muzamir Mutyaba featured for Kiyovu SC as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Mukuru in the Rwandese Prismus Premier League.
