StarTimesUPL: Manzoki’s 68th-minute strike breaks ‘coachless’ Tooro United’s solidity

Vipers SC were victors in matchday 11 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after thumping Tooro United in a 1-0 encounter at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on a shiny evening.

The Venoms fetched the first shot on goal in the 5th through Yunus Ssentamu when he cut in inside the box but his shot was well managed by Tooro United’s custodian.

Vipers could have steered into the lead in the 23rd minute but striker Manzoki’s blasted Sentamu headed pass wide.

The Venoms kept the pressure on Tooro’s defence but failed to capitalize on the pool of chances they got through strikers Sentamu and Ceasor Manzoki.

Vipers SC captain Halid Lwalira also got a chance to put the ball inside the net in the 37th minute but his headed ball from Bobosi’s free-kick went wide.

Tooro United’s custodian produced a heroic save to deny Bright Anukani’s shot before saving Manzoki’s rebound at the death of the 1st half to send the game to break with all-square.

Milton Kalisa failed to put the hosts into the lead in the 57th minute when his shot hit the pole with the goal at his mercy.

Allan Kayiwa also got a chance to put the game ahead in the 62nd minute but his shot was well managed by Tooro’s custodian who was good on the day.

The Venoms took the lead through their lead striker Ceasor Manzoki in the 68th minute after he was set up by leftwing back Aziz Kayondo.

Milton Karisa could’ve doubled the lead for the home side in the 77th minute but his shot was eluded away by Tooro’s custodian.

Dan Sserunkuma also got the chance to double the lead for the Venoms but his shot in the 85th minute was stopped by Tooro’s custodian.

The venoms remain second on the log with 23 points four adrift KCCA FC who are the table leaders

Tooro United remain bottom of the with four points in 11 games.
