Africa U20 Volleyball Championships to be hosted in Uganda

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) has confirmed Uganda as the hosts for the Africa U20 girls championships after announcing the new tournament dates from the 18th – 26th February 2021.

The tournament was initially slated to take place last year in December in Kampala but due to the covid 19 pandemic, CAVB put all its activities for the 2020 calendar year on hold so as to match their calendar activities with that of the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB).

The cancellation of all activities was done under the new governance of the new CAVB president-elect Bouchra Hajij after being entrusted will the leadership of volleyball on the African continent.

Only four Nations have so far confirmed their participation in the tournament, Cameroon, DRC, Tunisia and Uganda the host nation. The winner of the CAVB U20 championships will represent Africa at the upcoming FiVB world U20 championships.

The good news comes in when the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) is in preparations to have a new executive board on the 31st January at the elective assembly.

The presidential seat has seen incumbent Hadijja Namanda face-up with Former President Sadik Nasiwu and Eddie Okila who is coming back to contest for the third time.
