Defending Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will not feature in the 2026 FUFA Super 8 tournament after FUFA confirmed the fixtures, dates and venues for this year’s competition.
The Venoms, who will represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League, have been left out of the eight-team pre-season tournament to allow them enough time to prepare for their continental campaign. Their absence has paved the way for Entebbe UPPC to join the Super 8 line-up.
The annual competition brings together top-performing Uganda Premier League clubs and serves as a curtain-raiser ahead of the new domestic season.
According to fixtures released by FUFA’s Competitions Department Director Shawn Mubiru, the tournament will kick off on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with quarterfinal first-leg action at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
KCCA FC will host BUL FC, while SC Villa will take on Maroons FC in the opening matches of the competition.
The remaining quarterfinal first legs will be played on Sunday, August 2, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, with Kitara FC facing Entebbe UPPC and NEC FC welcoming Police FC.
The return legs are scheduled for August 6 and 7, with matches set to take place at Hamz Stadium and MTN Omondi Stadium respectively.
The winner between KCCA FC and BUL FC will meet either Kitara FC or Entebbe UPPC in the semifinals, while the victor between SC Villa and Maroons FC will face either NEC FC or Police FC.
The semifinal matches will be played on August 10 and 11, before the tournament climax on Saturday, August 15, with the final scheduled at MTN Omondi Stadium.
Vipers SC’s absence means the defending league champions will focus on preparing for a busy campaign that includes domestic football and a return to the CAF Champions League stage.
The FUFA Super 8 provides participating clubs with valuable competitive preparation as they fine-tune their squads ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
