Vipers Sports Club has officially confirmed the return of Uganda Cranes midfielder and attacker Farouk Miya, a decade after he left the Kitende-based club to pursue a professional career abroad.
Miya departed Vipers in 2016 to join Belgian top-flight side Standard Liège.
During his time overseas, the 28-year-old featured for Royal Excel Mouscron (on loan), Sabail FK (on loan), HNK Gorica, Konyaspor, FC Lviv, Çaykur Rizespor, and most recently Greek club Ilioupoli FC.
At international level, Miya made six appearances for the Uganda U-23 national team, scoring three goals. He has also earned 79 caps for the Uganda Cranes, scoring 23 goals.
Miya returns to Vipers ahead of the 2026/27 season after spending the past two weeks training with the team, where he impressed newly appointed head coach Dennis Lavagne.
The former Uganda Premier League champions have been active in the transfer market, having recently welcomed back former striker Ceaser Lobi Manzoki. They have also signed midfielder Joel Sserunjogi and Gabonese goalkeeper Loyce Mbaba.
The Venoms are preparing for the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda before turning their attention to representing Uganda in the CAF Champions League this season.
