Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi ( UMU ) are the champions of the 2022 University Football League.

This is after they defeated St. Lawrence University 1-0 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening to lift their second ever UFL title.

Sunny Kaija netted the all important goal for the Catholic University side in the opening half when he made a brilliant run to the near post to head in a brilliantly driven-in Joseph Kayondo’s corner.

St. Lawrence had several chances to level matters before the break but Sadam Okoboi was brilliant to deny both Bruno Bunyaga and Umar Kayemba.

Just after the break, Bruno got denied by the bottom post with Sadam well-beaten.

Sadam Okoboi also made a brilliant save to deny SLAU substitute Shaban Kayongo from levelling matters just before the hour mark

In the 75th minutes, the UMU goalkeeper once again denied Bruno when he made himself big to make an incredible save and deny this year’s topscorer.

UMU held on in the latter exchanges of the game to secure the emphatic victory to win their second title.

For St. Lawrence University, they have now lost their second consecutive final, having also lost the 2019 final to UCU.
