Record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa started off their season with a 2-0 victory over Gaddafi FC at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Sunday.

A Gift Fred goal and Andrew Waiswa’s own goal was all what the Jogoos needed to secure their first victory.

Fred goal came in the 17th minute as he headed in a Fred Agandu’s well delivered corner.

The hosts were the better side of the opening half as they poised numerous attacks towards Gaddafi’s goal but Mutakubwa was brilliant.

The second half, though belonged to the Visitors who hit the woodwork twice while searching for an equaliser. Mahad Yaya Kakooza saw his effort rattle the crossbar before Johnson Odong did the same from a freekick.

While also Alex Kitata also had his effort saved by Villa’s goalie Martin Olungat midway the closing half.

Villa first realistic attempt of the second fell to Hassan Musana, who did everything brilliantly but unlucky he also struck the crossbar.

Villa finally got their second goal to seal the win later on as Waiswa was unlucky to connect the ball into his own net after Joel Mutakubwa partied the ball into his path.

2-0 it ended and Villa collected all three points against the Wasswa Bbosa’s coached side.

In the next game, Villa will face Onduparaka in Bombo while Gaddafi will host also face Onduparaka next.
