FUFA WSL: Hasifa Nassuna opens account on Kampala Queens debut as She Corporate continue winless run

It has been an eventful weekend of women football as Kampala Queens continued with their 100 percent record this season while the defending champions, She Corporate held onto a winless run in the first three season games.

All the action began on Saturday with a Nakasi show as Uganda Martyrs hosted the defending Champions in a game that has always held a hardship status since last season.

This time round both teams were able to play out a one all draw after they squandered a number of chances throughout the 90 minutes. The Sharks who were the first team on target in the second half of the game, got their goal through new signing Jackline Nakasi and Uganda Martyrs through Leticia Nakasi after an assist from goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu.

On Sunday, the rest of the teams played their games and among them was She Makerere hosting On-form Kampala Queens who kept their unbeaten record this season through a debutant Hasifa Nassuna ‘s 17th minute free kick in the opening half.

In a game that didn‘t seem easy at the beginning after both teams coming into this fixture unbeaten this season, She Makerere started the game in a high press formation with experienced Violah Namuddu and Captain Josephine getting extremely tight Shamirah Nalugya and Hassifa Nassuna In order to deny them playing space.

Both teams had different chances to score in both halves with the most notable ones coming in the first half for the Makerere University Women Football club as Namuddu’s free kick hit the cross bar and second half for Queens as Nandede ran with the ball on the left wing only to put it across the goal for Resty Nanziri who failed put it in the net hence the game ending 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

For Kawempe Muslim Women who were playing their first league game this season on match day 3, it was all tears as they lost 2-0 away in Masindi to impressive Lady Doves.

The Doves who have been unlucky in their first two games got their goals through Resty Kobusobozi in the 35th minute and Focus Kwikiriza six (6) minutes into the second half.

Soroti was also on fire as Olila who didn’t play on the last match day collected maximum points at home as they edged Rines SS 2-1 only to pile more misery on the Namuseera based side.

The Olila H/S goals came in from a defender Bira Nanduga’s penalty in the 73rd minute to level the game after Aminah Nababi’s early strike three minutes after the hour mark had put Rines SS ahead. Later on Apiding Cecilia in the 86th minute put the driving seat only to seal their second win of the campaign.

In the other game of the day, UCU Lady Cardinals are the third team to have a 100 percent winning record this season as they put four (4) past winless Asubo Gafford Ladies Football Club.

Summary of results.

This meant that Kampala Queens remained at the top of the Log with both a better point and goal difference.
