In a thrilling two-legged encounter, Kitara FC, a Masindi-based Uganda Premier League (UPL) team, defeated Pajule Lions to secure a spot in the final of the 50th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
This marks a historic milestone for the Royals, who have never reached this stage of the competition before.
The first leg saw Kitara emerge victorious with a 3-1 win, thanks to goals from Solomon Okwalinga, Denis Omedi, and Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.
In the second leg, Brian Ahebwa’s 15th-minute goal was enough to seal a 4-1 aggregate win for Kitara.
Kitara will now face fellow UPL newcomers and rivals NEC in the final, who defeated one-time winners BUL to reach the final set to take place on May 25th 2024 at yet to be confirmed venue.
The Royals are also in contention for the UPL title, sitting second in the 16-team table with 48 points, just one point behind leaders BUL and two points ahead of defending champions Vipers.
