Crispus Asiki scored with the last kick of the game to earn Kitara a 1-1 draw against SC Villa at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Saturday.

Villa had taken the lead in the eighth minute when Andrew Okumu headed home Arnold Odong’s lay off from a free kick to open his account for the Jogoos.

The hosts were the better side in the first half and created chances to add to their lead but failed to finish them.

Reagan Mpande missed a good opportunity after Patrick Kakande played him through, while substitute Andrew Otim fired over from another Kakande delivery.

Kitara came close to levelling when George Senkaaba’s effort was cleared off the line, before Jimmy Kalema hit the post.

The visitors kept pushing and brought on Edson Agondeze, Isaac Amutuhaire, Asiki and Kabon Living as they searched for a goal.

Their pressure finally paid off in stoppage time. Living’s free kick found Asiki, who headed home to deny Villa victory.

Villa next face URA on Thursday, September 3, at Nakivubo, while Kitara shift focus to the CAF Confederation Cup against Mogadishu City on Sunday, September 6.

Elsewhere, NEC beat KCCA 2-0, Police edged Mbarara City 1-0, Lugazi defeated Kigezi Home Boyz 2-1, and Blacks Power beat Ntugasaze 1-0 at Hoima City Stadium.
