Mbarara City has confirmed that they have retained only 11 players following their relegation from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League to the FUFA Big League.
The Ankole lions was relegated from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after finishing second bottom with 25 points garnered in 30 games.
The retained players include Henry Kitegenyi, Kakaire Thomas, Solomon Okwalinga, Jude Ssemugabi, Ivan Okello, Jasper Aheebwa, Othieno Steven, Ronald Edwok, Seiri Arigumaho, Karim Ramathan and Sadat Nsubuga.
The rest of the players that featured for Mbarara City last, apart from those retained have been requested by the club to find new clubs ahead of the upcoming season.
“The rest of the players with running contracts are requested to negotiate their way out of the club or negotiate for loan agreement,” read club statement.
Mbarara City will feature in the Uganda’s second tier for the first time since 2017.
