Diaspora: Miya nets brace as Konyaspor upsets İstanbul Başakşehir.


Uganda Attacker Farouk Miya found the back of the net twice as his Konyaspor side come from a goal down to upset top-placed İstanbul Başakşehir in a Turkish Super ligue game played at Konya Buyaksehir Stadyumu on Monday evening.

Instabul Basaksehir took an early lead from a spot when Farouk Miya handled the ball in the box, only for Edin Visca to step up and scores the games first goal in the 3rd minute.

It took Farouk Miya only 17 minutes to make up for his early mistake and levelled matters when he tapped home a well worked pass from right back Alper Uldag.

8 minutes afterwards, Konyaspor’s Omer Ali Sahiner found the back of the net and took Konyaspor into a well deserved 2-1 lead after 28 minutes.

Before the first half could come to a death, Farouk Miya pounced onto a lose ball, turned and brilliantly volleyed the ball past Mert Günok in Basaksehir goal into the net.

That was Miya second goal of the game and his 8th of the season in the league.

In the second half, Basaksehir pulled a goal back through former Chelsea and Newcastle striker Demba Ba in the 70th minute before they levelled matters in the 77th minute through Substitute Elia Eljero.

But it was Konyaspor who scored the late goal through left back Nejc Skubic to steal away 3 points from the log leaders.

After today’s win, Konyaspor has moved up to 14th places with 33 points, a point above the relegation zone and will play second placed Trabzonspor next on Saturday 18th, July .
