Jayden Onen released by Brentford FC

Uganda international and former Arsenal academy graduate Jayden Onen was released by his side Brentford B after the expiration of his contract.

Onen and eight other players were shown exit doors by the club on Tuesday 6, 2020 with Head Coach Neil MacFarlane citing that it was time for them to look for first-team football elsewhere since the club won’t need them.

Onen was among the players who were summoned by Uganda Cranes Head Coach Jonathan McKinstry for a doubleheader against South Sudan in the AFCON qualifiers earlier in March.

Tonny Mawejje rejoins Police

Former Uganda cranes midfielder Tonny Mawejje rejoined Police FC on a two-year employment contract.

Mawejje returns to a side he featured for during the 2006/07 season before joining URA FC the next season and later turned for Iceland’s IBC Vestimannaeyjar for his professional stint.

Mawejje has been a free agent since partying ways with Kuwait’s Al-Arabi.

Vipers SC confirm the signing of Jamir Kaliisa

Kitende based side Vipers SC confirmed the signing of BrightStars midfielder Jamil Kaliisa on a four-year employment contract.

The attacking midfielder became Vipers’ third signing of the season after the acquisition of left-back Disan Galiwago from Express FC and Winger Ibrahim Orit from Mbarara City FC.

He rejoined with his former boss Fred Kajoba who is now the Head Coach of Vipers SC.

Kizito Luwagga renews stay at Hapoel Kfar Saba

Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder William Kizito Luwagga extended his employment contract for one year. This will keep him with the Israel based club for another season.

Luwagga joined Hapoel Kfar Saba as a free agent this year from Romania’s Politenhica Lasi following the expiration of his contract.

He has previously played for Shakhter Karagady, Fierense, Rio Ave, Bate Borisov, Covilha among others.

FUFA meets ex-players

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) met with Uganda football ex-players on issues regarding how well the lives of the Ex-internationals can be improved, in a meeting chaired by FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo.

Among the major issues discussed was the registration of ex-internationals association with FUFA, form SACCOS among others.

A total of 47 ex-internationals attended the meeting. These included Jackson Mayanja, George Ssimwogerere, Fred Tamale, Hakim Magumba, Hassan Mubiru, Dan Ntale, Pual Ssali, Philip Ssozi, Paul Mukatabala, Simeon Masaba among others.

Joel Madondo and Wydad Casablanca mutually agreed to terminate the contract

After a long period of uncertainty about his future at Wdad Casablanca, Uganda Cranes forward Joel Madondo finally quit the Moroccan giants after both parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

Madondo and his agent Tushar Ruparelia confirmed the news to Kawowo Sports websites on Saturday 11th July 2020.

Madondo, now a free agent will be returning home when the airport opens.

Denis Iguma joins KCCA FC

After several speculations surrounding his next destination, Denis Iguma finally put all the rumors at a halt when he joined Uganda Premier League Giants KCCA on a two-year employment contract.

Iguma has been on the sidelines for several months after undergoing surgery on his knee.

He becomes KCCA’s fourth signing after the acquisition of Italian Stefane Mazengo Loro, Brian Aheebwa from Mbarara City FC and Pius Obuya from Maroons FC.
