This week saw the Uganda duo at Bandari United, Umar Kasumba and William Wadri get on target in the Betking Kenyan Premier league game, while Joseph Ochaya helped his side in Congo secure this season’s league title.
Here is how Ugandan professionals abroad fared over the weekend.
Starting off in Tanzania, three Ugandan players were in action as Simba FC defeated Azam FC 1-0 in the Azam Sports Federation Cup semifinals. Taddeo Lwanga featured full-time for Simba while Nicholas Wadada and Mathias Kigonya also started and featured for Azam FC. Azam was eliminated while Simba progressed to the final where they will face Yanga FC.
In Kenya, Benjamin Ochan started in goal for AFC Leopards and helped his side secure a 2-1 victory over Wazito United in the BetKing Kenyan Premier league.
Still in the KPL, Umar Kasumba and William Wadri were on target for Bandari FC as they secured a 4-1 victory over Kakemenga Sharks.
In South Africa, Isma Watenga started in goal and helped his side, Chippa United secure a vital 1-1 stalemate with Richards Bay in the DSTV PSL playoff tournament.
Chippa sits top of the three-team mini-tournament with 4 points and will play Real Kings next.
In Congo, Joseph Ochaya featured full-time as TP Mazembe were crowned Vodacom Linafoot champions after a narrow 1-0 victory over Maniema Union in the last game of the season.
In Zambia, Shafik Batambuze helped his Kabwe Warriors side secure a CAF Confederation Cup spot after they defeated Indeni FC 3-2 in the last league game of the MTN Zambian Premier League. Kabwe finishes the season in the fourth position with 51 points garnered in 34 games.
In Egypt, Derrick Nsibambi started and featured for an hour as his side, Smouha SC suffered a 3-0 loss to Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League. Smouha is fourth on the log with 40 points in 27 games.
Emmanuel Okwi was absent from the Matchday squad as his side, Al Ittihad Alexandria Club drew 1-all with Ghazl El-Mahalla.
In the Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme featured for Viktoria Zizkov as they suffered a 5-0 loss to FC Slovan Liberec in a pre-season friendly.
In the USA, Mustafa Kizza featured for 77 minutes as his side, Montreal Impact drew 1-all with Nashville in the Major league Soccer. Montreal sits eighth on the Eastern Conference log with 13 points in 10 games.
