Diaspora: how Ugandan professionals abroad fared over the weekend

Top league football returned after a week away due to the international break that allowed for national team football that saw competitions like the UEFA Nations League, AFCON qualifiers, and World Cup qualifiers in CONMEBOL take place.

Of course there was action during the international break, however, most leagues were not played until this previous weekend and here is how Ugandans turned out with their different teams.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya started and played halftime as Konyaspor picked up a 2-1 win against Kasımpaşa SK in the Turkish Super Lig.

In Estonia, Edrisa Lubega was introduced in the 76th minute as Paide Linnameskond played out to a 2-all draw against Levadia in the Estonian Meistriliiga.

In Sweden, Isaak Ssewankambo played full-time, while Ronald Mukiibi came on in the 82nd minute as Ostersunds suffered a 4-0 home loss to Varbergs BoIS in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

In Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme started and played full-time as his Viktoria Zizkov side claimed a 3-1 win over Líšeň in the Czech National Football league.

Mukisa Kenneth Mbayo was an unused substitute as his Team TG FF suffered a 2-0 loss to Karlslund in the Swedish Division 1.

In the Scottish Premiership, Bevis Mugabi returned from injury and caused a penalty as his side, Motherwell and St.Johnstone played out to a 1-all draw

In Denmark, Robert Kakeeto didn’t make the Matchday squad due to an injury as his AaB Aalborg side played out to a 1-all draw with Nordsjælland in the Danish SuperLiga.

Moses Opondo also never made the Matchday squad as his side, Odense Boldkub also played out to a 1-all draw against SønderjyskE.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru was still out with an injury as Wycombe Wanderers played out to a goalless draw with Brentford FC in the English Championship.

Jordan Obita featured for 79 minutes as Oxford United FC claimed a 2-1 win over Wigan in the English league one.

In the Portuguese LigaPro, Alex Kakuba started and played 73 minutes as his side, CD Cova de Piedade progressed to the next stage of Taça de Portugal after 5-3 shootout win against Marinhense after a 1-all full-time draw.

In USA, Mustafa Kizza was a second half substitute as Montreal Impact suffered a 2-1 loss to New England Revolution in the Major League Soccer.

In Israel, Fahad Bayo was introduced on in the 77th minute while Timothy Awanyi never made the matchday squad as his Ashdod SC side claimed a 2-0 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Israel Premier league.

Kizito Luwagga was an unused substitute as his Hapoel Kfar Saaba side lost 1-0 at home to Sakhnin.

In Congo, Joseph Ochaya was once again an unused substitute as TP Mazembe drew 1-all with Saint Eloi Lupopo in the Vodacom Linafoot.

In South Africa,Denis Onyango was out as his Mamelodi Sundowns side rallied from a goal down to defeat AmaZulu FC 4-3 in the DSTV Premiership

Moses Waiswa started and featured for 60 minutes as Supersport United squandered an early goal lead to lose 2-1 to Orlando Pirates.

In Tanzania, Nicholas Wadada was an unused substitute as his side, Azam FC lost 1-0  to KMC in the Tanzanian Premier league.
