Diaspora: End of road for Lukwago, Taddeo in CAF Champions League – how Ugandan pros fared over the weekend

A couple of Ugandan foreign based players over the weekend fared for their respective sides across the globe where some of them got ample playing time while others remained unused on the benches.

Here is how those Uganda pros fared over the past weekend for their respective sides.

Starting off in Scotland, Sadat Anaku came off the bench in the 58th minutes for Glen Middleton and helped Dundee United pull a goal back a minute later as his side lost 2-1 to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

While Bevis Mugabi was also a second half substitute for Motherwell FC as they lost 3-0 to Hearts.

In England, Jordan Obita featured fulltime for Wycombe Wanderers as they suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Derby County in the English League One.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo featured for only 28 minutes as his side AC Horsens secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nordsjaelland in Danish SuperLiga.

In Sweden, Alexis Bbaka was absent from the matchday squad as his side, Umea FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Haninge in Swedish Division 1.

Ronald Mukiibi was also abse from Degerfos squad as they drew 1-all with AIK in Swedish Allsvenskan.

In Azerbaijan, Kizito Luwagga was introduced on in the 67th minute for Samir Abdullayev as his side, Sabail FK lost 2-0 to Neftçi in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

In Iceland, Elvis Bwomono featured fulltime for IBV as they lost 3-0 to Breiðablik in Iceland Úrvalsdeild.

In Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme featured for Viktoria Zizkov as they secured a 2-0 victory over SK Sokol in the Czech Republic National Football League.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya featured for only 45 minutes for Rizespor FC as they lost 2-0 to Adanaspor in the Turkish TFF First League.

In Turkish Sùper Lig, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru remained unused on the bench for Konyaspor Kulubu as they were defeated 2-1 by Galatasaray.

In USA, Steven Sserwadda was an unused substitute for New York Red Bulls as they lost 2-0 to New York City in Major League Soccer.

In United States League, Mike Azira was also an unused substitute for New Mexico United as they drew 1-al with San Antonio.

Still in USL, Edward Kizza featured for 21 minutes for Pittsburgh Riverhounds as they lost 2-1 to
Birmingham Legion.

In MLSNextPro, Aziz Kayondo didn’t make it to the Real Monarch’s matchday squad as they closed off the season with a 2-1 victory over Colorado Rapids 2.

While Musa Ramathan didn’t make it to the matchday squad as FC Cincinnati 2 suffered a 9-0 humiliation to Columbus.

In Israel, Timothy Awanyi featured fulltime for Ashdod SC as they drew 1-all with Maccabi Bnei Raina
in the Israeli Premier League.

In German, Herbert Bockhorn featured fulltime for 1.FC Magdeburg as they lost 3-1 to Hansa in 2.Bundesliga.

In South Africa, Dennis Onyango remained out from the matchday squad as his side, Mamelodi Sundowns secured a vital 1-0 victory over Amazulu in the DSTV Premiership.

Still in DSTV Premiership, Jamal Salim Magoola started in goal for Richards Bay FC and kept a clean sheets as they drew goalless with TS Galaxy.

While Ismaïl Watenga started in goal for Marumo Gallants as they lost 1-0 to Chippa United.

In Algeria, Allan Okello never made it to the starting team for Paradou AC as they lost 1-0 to CS Constantine in Algeria Ligue 1.

In CAF Champions League, Taddeo Lwanga featured for 54 minutes and was subbed off as his side AS Arta drew goalless with Al-Merrikh to get eliminated from the prestigious competition on a 2-1 aggregate loss. Sulait Luyima remained unused on the bench for Arta.

Khalid Aucho didn’t make it to the matchday squad for Young Africans as they thrashed Zalan 5-0 to progress to the next round on a 9-0 aggregate.

Charles Lukwago started in between the sticks for St. George as they lost 1-0 to Al Hilal in Sudan to get eliminated at the first qualification round on away goals rule after 2-2 aggregate scoreline.

In Zambia, Keziron Kizito featured for 81 minutes while Alfred Leku got 19 minutes as their side, Zesco United were held to a goalless stalemate by Green Eagles in the MTN Zambian Super League.

Still in Zambian Super League, Hashim Sempala featured for only 27 minutes for Kabwe Warriors as they claimed a 1-all stalemate with Nkwazi FC.
