Cardiff City closing in on Ugandan forward

Skybet English Championship side Cardiff FC are close to signing Ugandan and Middlesbrough striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru.

The striker is set to join Cardiff on loan deal until the end of the current season.

Cardiff had shelved interest in Ikpeazu last week because Middlesbrough wanted a fee for the former Wycombe Wanders player.

However, the move is back on after Boro agreed to a loan move.

The 26-year old Uganda national has scored three goals in 21 appearance for the Teesside club this season, having joined them from Wycombe Wanderers last summer on a three-year deal.

Ikpeazu joins Cardiff as a replacement for Kieffer Moore, who is heading to Bournemouth.

Ikpeazu has played for Hearts, Blackpool, Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers, but his most prolific spell was for Cambridge United during the 2017-18 season where he scored 14 goals in 44 games across all competitions.

He is yet to feature for the Uganda Cranes though he was summoned several time by Johnny Mckinstry.
