Airtel FUFA Awards: Bobosi beats Kambale, Kayondo to win Player of the Year gong

Bobosi Byaruhanga has won the 2021 Airtel FUFA Male Player of the year.

This was announced at an awards ceremony at Speke Resort, Munyonyo in Kampala on Saturday evening.

Bobosi, held off the challenge of Express’s Erick Kenzo Kambale and Vipers’ Abdul Aziz Kayondo to collect the prize after an outstanding year.

Bobosi was part of the Uganda Hippos team that finished runners-up at the U20 AFCON finals in Mauritania early this years.

He also helped Vipers win the Stanbic Uganda Cup and was named the tournament’s best midfielder after the venoms obliterated BUL FC 8-1 in the final.

He also earned a maiden call to the Uganda Cranes and featured in all six games for Cranes at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where Uganda fell short of qualification.

The Vipers midfielder walked away with a brand new Subaru Forester car.

Fauzia Najjemba took the FUFA Female Player of the Year Award, while Express’s Wasswa Bbosa took the Coach of the Year.

Travis Mutyaba took the best Futsal Player of the Year while Emmanuel Wasswa took the Beach Soccer Player of the Year.
