2024 FIFA U-20WCQ: Queen Cranes move past Mozambique

Two goals from Phiona Nabulime and Agnes Nabukenya respectively helped the Uganda U-20 Women’s National team, The Queen Cranes defeated Mozambique at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday evening.

Both Uganda’s goals were scored in the opening half to steer Ayub Khalifan Kiyingi army to victory.

Phiona Nabulime opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute with a beautiful header after meeting Margret Kunihira’s corner kick.

Kunihira who was good on her set up Agnes Nabukenya at the edge of the box only to strike the ball into the back of the net 14 minutes later.

The Queen Cranes won the tie on a 8-0 advantage after winning the first leg 6-0 away in Mozambique.

This meant that the Ugandan team has now Qualified to next round of FIFA Under 20 Women World Cup where they will face either Senegal or Benin.

The 2024 Women’s U20 World Cup final tournament slot is what is at stake as the world show piece will be held in Colombia.
