Fortebet Real Star Monthly Awards: Ladies dominate October


Ndejje University Lady Hoopers skipper Achola Lillian won her first Fortebet Real star monthly Award in the Handball category at the Lazio restaurant on Tuesday afternoon.

Achola helped her side who are currently 3rd in the Uganda Handball Super League to attain  21 points scoring 29 goals, assisting on 53 occasions and stealing the ball thirteen (13) from the opponents in four games.

Speaking to the media on rainy afternoon, a happy Achola promised to work harder towards another award;

“I have been voted the player of the month of October and am very happy because it’s my first time and it’s a very big deal for me take home this Award”

“This will motivate me to work towards another and I hope to win another one soon.”

Achola 24, also plays Netball for Weyonje NC and featured for the Uganda Women Netball National team (She Cranes) at the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa.

In the other sports disciplines, Godfrey Nsubuga, ranked 300th in the World won the Golf category topping Peace Kabasweke and Ronald Rugumayo to make it two Real Star awards in his locker.

19 year old Nsubuga won a championship record of 13-under 275 gross after 72 holes at the 82nd Uganda Amateur Open.

For Basketball, JKL Dolphins’ Hope Akello was by far ahead of all competitors after helping her side win the NBL title hence being named the MVP.

Akello beat competition from both KIN Titans’ Perus Nyamwenge and City Oilers’ Titus Lual.

Grace Auma beat off competition from fellow ladies Sandra Lona and Peace Lekuru to take home her award after her two tries and one against Tunisia and Zimbabwe respectively.

While on the football side, Agnes Nabukenya who scored three goals in two legs for the Uganda Queen Cranes against Mozambique U20 and one for Kawempe Muslim in the FUFA WSL away at Rines SS to come out on top of BUL’s Alex Kitata and NEC FC’s Cromwell Rwothomio.

This was fourth(4th) year and Tenth(10th) month of the Fortebet Real Star Monthly Awards done in remembrance of the fallen FUFA Vice President Darius Mugoye as the CEO, Isaac Mukasa together with the patners Jude Color Solutions and Fortebet prepare to celebrate their fifth birthday.
