The Uganda Rugby Seven’s team have been pitted in Pool B ahead of the World Rugby Sevens Repechage tournament in Monaco. Uganda will battle out with France, Hong Kong, Chile and Jamaica in Pool B.
This was confirmed after the draw on Tuesday morning at Hotel Hermitage, Monaco.
The repechage tournament is a one-off event to determine the final two women’s and one men’s teams to qualify for the rugby sevens competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which were delayed until 2021.
Uganda will play against all four opponents in it’s pool and the top two teams from the pool will progress through to the knockout stages, culminating in the final with the winner booking their place on the plane to Tokyo.
The Uganda Rugby Sevens team are currently in Cape Town, South Africa for a week-long training ahead of the repechage Olympic qualifier slated for June 19-20.
The Olympic men’s rugby sevens competition will take place from 26-28 July at the Tokyo Stadium, which was a venue for Rugby World Cup 2019.
