Two trial matches between Uganda and Tunisia will set the tone for the visitors’ preparations ahead of the 2026 Barthes Trophy after the Tunisian Under-20 team arrived in the country.
The first match will be played on Sunday, July 26, at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, while the second is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, at a venue yet to be confirmed.
The two games will be followed by joint high-performance training sessions in August as both teams step up preparations for the continental age-grade tournament.
Tunisia’s visit is part of a wider technical exchange between the two unions aimed at improving player development through competitive matches and shared training.
The partnership between Uganda and Tunisia dates back to 2023 when the Rugby Cranes and Lady Cranes toured Tunisia for two 15-a-side internationals each. The tour ended with both unions signing a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation and support the growth of rugby across Africa.
The collaboration will continue later this year when Tunisia’s Women’s Sevens team returns to Uganda in September for a high-performance training camp with the Lady Cranes Sevens ahead of the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Championship.
