Kyadondo Rugby Grounds will be the centre of Uganda’s 7s rugby action this weekend when the Kyadondo 7s returns with a fresh look, new partners and a new tournament jersey.
The two day event, hosted by Platinum Credit Heathens RFC, will run from August 22-23 under the theme #LegacyLivesHere, bringing together Uganda’s top men’s and women’s 7s teams.
The tournament was launched yesterday with AS Sports Africa unveiled as the official kit partner and MTN MoMo as the official community partner.
The new partnership with AS Sports Africa will see the tournament introduce a new 7s jersey, available in both Player and Fan editions. Kyadondo 7s shirts are also on sale at the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds Merchandise Shop and through the MTN MoMo Market.

For Local Organising Committee chairman Daniel Rweyora, the tournament is about putting both men’s and women’s rugby on the same stage.
“Kyadondo 7s brings men’s and women’s rugby together for one big weekend. Two days of fast, physical rugby and real competition. This tournament shows what Ugandan rugby can be when it’s done right,” Rweyora said.
Heathens chairman Desire Derekford Mugumisa believes the new partnerships will help the tournament grow while preserving Kyadondo’s rugby identity.

“Legacy lives at Kyadondo, and it grows with the right partners,” Mugumisa said.
He welcomed MTN MoMo and AS Sports Africa to the Heathens family, saying MTN MoMo will make it easier for fans to buy tickets and transact at the ground, while AS Sports Africa will give the tournament a modern look.

Mugumisa also thanked Platinum Credit, Zora Packaged Drinking Water and Kyadondo Rugby Football Club for their support.
Kyadondo is the third stop on this year’s Uganda Rugby 7s circuit, following the Stone City 7s and Rujumba 7s.
Walukuba Barbarians and Nile Rapids won the Stone City 7s, while Pirates and Nile Rapids took the honours at Rujumba.
The venue has a strong history with the series. Kyadondo hosted the opening leg of the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s Series, the Kabaka Coronation 7s, before hosting the Buffaloes 7s finale later in the season.
This weekend, attention returns to Kyadondo as teams battle for another set of circuit points.
Gates open at 7am on Saturday, with the first kick-off at 8am.
Tickets cost Shs10,000 for those who pay before Friday and Shs20,000 at the gate.

The Kyadondo 7s will be the third stop on the Uganda Rugby 7s circuit, following the Jinja 7s, won by Walukuba Barbarians and Nile Rapids, and the Rujumba 7s, where Pirates and Nile Rapids emerged winners.
