StarTimes UPL: Soltilo Bright Stars extend winning run, Onduparaka finally back to winning ways

The StarTimes Uganda Premier league resumed on Tuesday evening with four Match day 23 fixtures at several venues across the Pearl of Africa. Soltilo Bright Stars extended their unbeaten run to seven games, Onduparaka snapped their winless run that had lasted five game while the other two games ended in ties .

Starting off in Wakiso, Bright Stars extended their unbeaten leagye run to seven games after they defeated Mbarara City FC 3-1 at the Kavumba Recreation center.

With 23 minutes on the clock, the Mwererwe based side broke the deadlock through Samuel Ssekamate Kayongo who headed off a well driven Andrew Kagwa’s cross.

Mbarara City levelled matters moments later through Bashir Mutanda before Ssekamate quickly restored parity for Bright Stars to ensure his side went into the break with a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, Derrick Ngobi extended Bright Stars advantage when he netted the third from a rebound off a well taken free kick by Ssekamate.

With the win, Bright Stars moves to 37 points in 6th position, level on points with Police FC who play KCCA on Wednesday While Mbarara City drop to 12th with 26 points.

In Arua, Onduparaka snapped their 5-match winless run after they defeated SC Villa 1-0 at the AbaBet Greenlight Stadium courtesy of Kabon Living lone goal.

Kabon netted at the stroke of halftime after making a brilliant run from almost the center of the pitch to slot home his 11th goal of the season.

This win pushes Onduparaka to 10th position on the log with 27 points in 23 games whilst SC Villa drop to 8th with 32 points.

In Bombo, Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) FC came from behind to secure a 1-all away stalemate with UPDF FC at the Bombo Military Playgrounds.

Joseph Vuni put UPDF in the lead in the 68th minute before Paulo Musamali levelled matter for MYDA with ten minutes to end of the game.

UPDF move up to 7th position on the log with 33 points while MYDA remains second bottom with 11 points.

In Jinja, Busoga United goalkeeper Rogers Omendwa netted an own goal to cancel out Shafik Kimbowa’s opener as Busoga United drew 1-all with Wakiso Giants at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Action will resume on Wednesday evening with the top of table clash between Vipers SC and URA FC the headline.
