2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Ssentamu and Oyirwoth on Uganda Cranes provisional squad

Newly appointed uganda cranes head coach, Paul Put and his assistant, Sam Simbwa have summoned a provisional squad of 36 players ahead of their first two 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier games.

Yunus Junior Ssentamu is among the surprising names on the list. The vipers’ forward had distanced himself from the national team due to undisclosed reasons despite having a good run at his club.

Allan Oyirwoth is another surprising name on the list. The 16 year old attacking midfielder has had a good run at Amus college school in the secondary schools competitions and Gomba FC in the Buganda Masaza cup.

Oyirwoth was the top scorer and MVP in the Teso zone secondary schools competitions, USSSA national championship MVP, ISF football championship top scorer, FEASSSA top scorer, Buganda Masaza cup MVP.

Kizito Luwaga makes a return to the team, the attacking midfielder couldn’t make it to the squad when coach Micho returned in 2021. Luwaga plays for Hapoel Kfar saba in Israel.

Uganda cranes will open their double world cup qualifying campaign against Guinea on 17th November and Somalia on 21st.

The final squad will travel to Berkene, Morocco where both games will be played on 12th November.

Uganda is placed in group G alongside Algeria, Guinea, Mozambique, Somali and Botswana.

The 2026 FIFA world cup will be played in USA, Canada and Mexico.
