Rounders Cricket Club in the New Jersey beats Tornado Cricket Club


In a delayed game at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, Rounders Cricket Club, donned in their new striking yellow-black jerseys, secured an impressive 63-run victory over Tornado Cricket Club in the UCA Men’s Cricket National League on Saturday.

Kinyirira Ivan, acting as captain in place of Irishadi Suleman, won the toss and opted to bat first. His decision paid off as Rounders managed to post a competitive total of 144 runs in a reduced 34-over match.

However, Tornado Cricket Club faced a challenging chase and fell short, only managing to score 82 runs, with all their wickets down in just 20.4 overs.

This loss by Tornado has implications for their promotion hopes, much to the delight of the Aziz Damani Ismaili Community Cricket Club, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to seize the promotion spot.

With this defeat, Tornado Cricket Club now has 12 points in eight matches, having lost two games and won six.

On the other hand, Aziz Damani Ismaili has played two games less and sits in third place with 10 points gathered from six games.

The much-anticipated showdown between these two clubs remains on the horizon, and Rounders’ recent victory has certainly added to the intrigue and calculations in this tight competition.

In another division, Jinja SS Cricket Club displayed their dominance as they beat Soroti City Cricket Club by 8 wickets. Soroti City CC set a target of 207/8 in 45 overs, but Jinja SS Cricket Club successfully chased down the score with ease.

Kunsa Cyrus, playing at their home ground, Jinja SS Cricket Oval, scored an impressive 90 off 100 balls, while Magezi Ronald contributed with 56 off 84 balls.

In the Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup, Tornado Bees Cricket Club faced a double setback at Entebbe Cricket Oval, suffering defeats by 9 wickets and 78 runs to Aziz Daman Cricket Club Cricket Club and Soroti City Cricket Club, respectively.
