As we edge closer to the Airtel FUFA Awards on December, 4th 2021, the Federation of Uganda Football Association ( FUFA) releases the finalists for the 2021 FUFA Male Player of the Year.

The finalists are three and include Vipers duo of Bobosi Byaruhanga abs Abdul Aziz Kayondo plus Express FC talisman Erick Kenzo Kambale.

But sadly, last season’s UPL topscorer Yunus Sentamu misses out.

Here is a brief on the final nominees for Male Player of the year.

Abdul Aziz Kayondo (Vipers)

The young electric left back was part of the Uganda U20 team that reached the finals of the 2020 U20 AFCON in Mauritania, in a tournament where he was named in the best XI.

He also featured for Uganda in the CHAN tournament in Cameroon and made his debut for Uganda Cranes against Rwanda at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Erick Kenzo Kambale ( Express FC)

The Express FC talisman was vital as the Red Eagles won their first Uganda Premier League in close to 10 years as he found the back of the net 15 times, emerging as the Club’s topscorer and only denied the league golden boot by Sentamu, who netted a goal more.

He was also a key figure as Express won their first CECAFA Kagame championship in history after lifting the cup early in September. He found the back of the net twice and assisted his teammates on several occasions.

Bobosi Byaruhanga ( Vipers SC)

Just like Kayondo, The Central Midfielder was part of the Uganda U20 team that reached the finals of the AFCON U20 in Mauritania.

He also helped Vipers win the 2021 Stanbic Uganda Cup, after defeating BUL 8-1 in the final where he was named the best midfielder of the tournament.

Bobosi was also named the MVP of the inaugural StarTimes Uganda Premier League All Stars game.
