Richard Wasswa Bbosa has been sacked by Express FC after two years in charge.

This was confirmed on Monday afternoon following a meeting that was held at Betway Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Bbosa replaced George Ssimwogerere as Express head coach in February 2020 and guided the club to their first league title since 2011/22 last season.

Before the start of the current season, Bbosa renewed his contract that had expired in May 2021.

They are currently fifth with 29 points in 17 games and are 10 points below leaders Vipers SC.

Bbosa’s last game in charge was a 2-2 league draw with lowly Tooro United on Friday.

James Odoch, who has been working as Bbosa’s assistant will take over on interim basis until the end of the season.

What went wrong?

After winning the league and the club’s first CECAFA title, Bbosa has been continuously involved in rows with the club CEO Isaac Mwesigwa.

In a game that Express lost to Arua Hill at the start of the season, the gaffer claimed Mwesigwa paid officials to have the team lose matches in order for him to be sacked.

Furthermore, the team has failed to cope up with absence of Skipper Enock Walusimbi and Eric Kambale who were crucial members of the squad. The pair hasn’t played in the second round as Walusimbi went to Spain for Team Fundi games while Kambale was away in Europe trying to force a move away.
