KCCA Football Club have dropped two crucial points after 1-all draw with Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Sunday.

Jude Semugabi netted in the second half for the Ankole Lions to cancel out Usama Arafat’s early opener.

Just like against URA FC in the last game, KCCA got an early opener when Usama Arafati headed home from close range after a Patrick Kaddu back flick following Filbert Obenchan’s long throw.

KCCA continued their impressive start to the game, dominating proceeding while also restricting Mbarara from creating any meaningful attack upfront.

Mato had a shot from outside the box that almost troubled Martin Olungat in the 10th minute before the Mbarara City goalkeeper made a double save to stop first Rogers Mato’s shot, before Elungat quickly rose up to deny Kaddu one on one.

Mbarara City’s best chance of the opening 45 minutes came before the halftime break, as Solomon Okwalinga rattled the crossbar after a wonderful cross by Jasper Aheebwa.

Despite his team being a goal up, KCCA head coach Morley Byekwaso made a double change at the start of the second – bringing on Brian Majwega and Davis Kasirye for Kaddu and Arafat respectively.

Five minutes into the second half, Mbarara City had an equaliser courtesy of Semugabi’s ferocious volley following a nice delivery by Henry Kitegenyi from the left.

After his side losing their lead, Byekwaso made a quick triple change to bring on Gift Ali, Yasser Mugerwa and Erisa Ssekisambu for John Revita, Charles Lwanga and Innocent Wafula respectively in a bid to regain their lead.

Both sides tried to win the game later on, but that wasn’t possible as the game ended in another stalemate.

The stalemate means KCCA has not won at Kakyeka Stadium in their five attempts. They have drawn four and lost one.

KCCA are now three points below leaders Vipers SC, who defeated Arua Hill 3-1 on Saturday.

Mbarara, who secure a vital point at home move to 16 points and remains 13th on the log.
