Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) held a press briefing to give updates about the work done and the future activities this year.
All this was done at their head office at GNS Plaza, Old Kampala on Wednesday in the presence of USSSA president, Justus Mugisha, his immediate past predecessor, Patrick Alfred Okanya and the head of secretariat (CEO), Chris Mugisha Banage.
In the briefing, USSSA President declared that the ball games two splitting into two championships.
The two championships include one that will act as FEASSSA qualifying tournament and the other a none FEASSSA qualifying tournament however both will be hosted at the same venue, Teso College, Aloet in Soroti.
“We have decided to split what we call ball games II into two tournaments” Justus Mugisha revealed
“The tournament will first will take place in the month of July from 9th to 17th July, so all those categories that have qualifiers for FEASSSA games shall be played in the first tournament”
“There after, the none FEASSSA qualifier games, will be honoured in the second term holidays, that’s is 1st to 9th September and will also be played at Teso College.” He concluded
The FEASSSA qualifier games that shall be in the first and the main ball games two championships;
- Netball, Volleyball, Basketball 3*3, Handball, Rugby 7s and Athletics.
The non-FEASSSA qualifiers Championship that shall be hosted between 1st and 9th September 2024 at Teso College Aloet;
- Football, basketball 3*3, Netball, Volleyball, basketball, Handball] these are for U16.
Other games include;
- Lacrosse,Wood ball, Dance sport, Mind games,Beach Soccer and beach volleyball.
The President added that the FEASSSA games Preparations are almost done according to the recent inspections made.
“FEASSSA games this year will be hosted in Uganda something that is exciting and this will be the sixth time though it will be the first time, they will be hosted in Eastern Uganda”
“Specifically they will be hosted at Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College, currently we have a stadium under construction at Amus College which will be surrounded by a couple of playgrounds.”
“We expect the ISF President Laurent Petrynka at the games as well as his General Secretary, a few Members from the ISF Secretariat to guide, President of Federation of Africa School Sports (FASS) and a few chairmen from other countries across the continent.”Justus Mugisha, USSSA President revealed
These games that attract at least 3500 participants are set to be hosted between 16th and 27th August 2024.

Coming up are the on-going USSSA Ball Games 2 Qualifiers (Across the country), Swimming Gala (Seroma Christian High School), USSSA Ball Games 2 Championships (Teso College Aloet) – 7th to 17th July, the FEASSSA Games (Bukedea Comprehensive School & Amus College) – 16th to 27th August, Non FEASSSA qualification games (Teso College Aloet) – 1st to 9th September and the ISF Gymnasiade School Summer Games (Kingdom of Bahrain) – 23rd to 31st October.
