Two second half goals from Enock Ssebagala and Gaddafi Wahab propelled NEC Football Club past Kitara on Match Day two of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League campaign

Kitara Football Club managed to score a goal through Kabon Living to level matters but it wasn’t enough to keep the Bugolobi based side at bay.

The victory meant that reigning Uganda Cup Champion Kitara suffered defeat against the first runners up, NEC FC in the first game at Royals Park in Bugema, Hoima

Ssebagala opened the scoring just four minutes with a thunderous strike from distance in the second half while Kabon leveled through the spot just eight past the hour mark.

However in the 79th Gaddafi Wahab had other plans going on to score a beauty on the half volley at the edge of the box to hand NEC a 2-1 away win and revenge from that Uganda Cup final.

NEC’s Paul Mucureezi was notably rushed to hospital after collision after a first half collision with Ronald Otti only to be replaced by James Jarieko.

The victory takes NEC FC top of the League log with maximum points out of their two games played.

In their next game, NEC will host UPDF in Lugogo on thé 24th of September while Kitara will visit KCCA three days later.

Other results of the day saw Vipers thump Express FC 3-0 in Kitende as UPDF edged Lugazi FC 1-0 in Bombo.
