Uganda Rugby 7’s team flagged off for Challenger Series


The Uganda National Rugby sevens team was flagged off by the State minister for sports, Honorable Hamson Obua on Friday morning.

The 12-man squad will be involved in 2 Series rounds in Chile and Uruguay respectively, where the top 8 teams after the two rounds will compete in the final qualifying  tournament for a spot in the World Rugby Series.

The Chile tournament is Scheduled for 15th – 16th February while the Uruguay tourney is for 22nd -23rd February.

Speaking at the Flag off, State Minister Hamson Obua encouraged the boys to go there with a soldiers heart and be prepared for the Challenge.

 As Uganda,  your profile is very high so go there with a Soldiers heart since your opponents are ready for you

Uganda is drawn in group C alongside Germany, Italy and Paraguay.

The team travels on Saturday night aboard the Emirates Airlines.
