UFL: Musiima bags hat trick as Bugema humble Gulu.

Isaac Musiima bagged a hat trick as Bugema University comfortably  humbled Gulu University 4-0 in the University Football league match played at Bugema play grounds to maintain their perfect start in group E.

Before this encounter, the previous four meetings between the two sides had produced a total of 16goals since 2017 with both teams winning two games of the 4

The host started the game on a high, looking for an early goal by forcing Gulu University to  play in their own half and in the 5th minute of the game, Musiimenta had the first shot on goal but it was directed straight to Opolot Richard, the Gulu custodian.

Kasujja Luck who was so lively on the left wing, set up Mulumba Fred ,only for the former to be brought down in the forbidden area by Gulu’s Kakooza Ivan in the 7th minute of the game.

Opolot stood firm in goal to deny Misiimenta from the penalty spot, forcing his effort into a corner.

From the resulting corner in the 10th minute, the ball found its way in between Opolot’legs and just found  Musiima unmarked in box. The forward did no mistake than to tap home his first goal of the day.

In the 12th minutes, Sendi Taira capitalised on poor defending of the Gulu  backline to  head home and double the lead for the hosts off a beautiful well taken corner by Kasujja

Bugema’s pressing game forced Gulu succumb to alot of defensive mistakes in the first half. Kasujja tracked down Opoka who dropped the ball in his own half and he set up Musiima for his second goal of the day and the third for Bugema in the 22nd minute.

Gulu’s first opportunity at goal came in the 30th minute when Ochora played in a through ball to set up Odur but the latter’s effort was easily saved by Kibalama, the Bugema custodian.

Gulu failed to play as a team in the first half and Bugema capitalized on that to take a 3-0 lead in the first stanza.

In the second half of the game, Bugema tried to posses the ball away from the Gulu player to keep their lead safe.

Gulu had a scoring opportunity in the 60th minute when Oponyo found himself in one on one situation but his delay to release the ball was cut short by a timely sliding tackle from Muhwezi Anthony.

In the 78th minute, Musiima’s free kick found the back of the net to complete his hat trick as Opolot was left helpless in goal by his defensive wall he set up.

Bugema kept a decent display to end the match with a 4-0 win against Gulu University. Bugema now tops group E with 6points from two games.
