Uganda Cricket is thrilled to announce the launch of the annual Boys Schools Cricket Tournament, scheduled to take place from August 24th to August 31st in Jinja.

This will mark the third consecutive year that Jinja hosts this highly anticipated event, which gathers the best cricket-playing secondary schools from six different regions across the country.

The tournament kicks off with a qualification round featuring 53 boys’ schools from six sports hubs throughout Uganda, narrowing down to 18 schools that will vie for the title in the finals.

Defending champions Jinja SSS will once again play host, with the event organized by East Enders Sports Hub and administered by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).

Matches will be held at six venues in Jinja, including the Jinja SSS Main Oval, Jinja College, Busoga College Mwiri, Kakira SS, and Kiira PS.

Isaac Imaka, Founder of East Enders, expressed his enthusiasm:

We are delighted to host the Annual Boys Schools Tournament this year.

This edition arrives at a perfect moment, as young cricketers in Uganda have been inspired by the senior men’s team’s performance at the T20 World Cup in the West Indies.

This event offers them a platform to showcase their talent, with the hope that they will develop into national assets capable of representing Uganda in major tournaments.

Additionally, it positions Jinja as a prime sports tourism destination.

We encourage sports enthusiasts to come and witness the exceptional talent from across the country.

We anticipate remarkable performances and unforgettable moments.

Davis Turinawe, Development Manager at UCA, also shared his thoughts:

We extend our gratitude to UCA for increasing the number of participating schools.

This expansion will significantly enhance our talent pool for future representative teams.

We expect an exciting brand of cricket from the various schools and look forward to a thrilling tournament.

The success of this event is made possible through the generous support of our partners, including East Enders, JACC, Sky View, and Jinja SSS, whose contributions have been crucial in organizing this large-scale event.
