U17 AFCON Qualifiers: Agony for Uganda Cubs as Nkoola misses decisive penalty in shoot-out

Uganda Cubs has missed out on qualification to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria next year.

This is after they were eliminated by Somalia in shoot-outs after a 1-all full-time stalemate in their semi-final encounter played at Abebe Bikila Stadium, Ethiopia.

Forward Nkoola Arafati missed the only spot-kick of a mammoth penalty shootout as the Cubs were beaten by Somalia 8-7 to get eliminated.

Jamal Ssemwogerere put Uganda ahead in the opening half before Abdihafid Andi levelled matters for Somalia to ensure the game ended tied at full-time.

Its a agonizing loss and elimination for Uganda, who came into this tournament as defending champions and favorites to win this tournament and qualify for the finals in Algeria.

For Somalia, they have secured their spot in the final tournament and will play either Tanzania or South Sudan in final of the CECAFA tournament .
