Transfers: Nabweteme joins club in Isreal top flight

Uganda female footballer Sandra Nabweteme has moved to a new club in Isreal Hapoel Ironi Petah Tikva on a eight months contract.

Hapoel Petah Tikva plays in the Isreal Women Premier League. The forward has previously piled her trade at Þór/KA Akureyri, Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar and Kawempe Muslim

The former Kawempe Muslim striker just left Iceland where she has been since the month of March this year, playing 7 games, scoring three goals and assist on one occasion for Þór/KA Akureyri.

At Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar, she was tasked to help the club earn promotion to the top tier league (Úrvalsdeild kvenna)since it had suffered relegation in 2021 something that didn’t happen as expected.

Nabweteme as a Kawempe Muslim player is a product of the FUFA Women Elite League winning two titles in 2015 and 2016 where she  finished as the top scorer in both editions.

In addition to her explicit performances, she was also named the FUFA female footballer of the year in 2015.

But before she went to Iceland,  Sandra Nabweteme first joined the South Western Oklahoma State University where she became become the All-Time leading goal scorer in the history of the University with 76 goals and also contributing 35 assists.

The girl from Katwe, has featured for the Uganda National ladie’s side (Crested Cranes) on a couple of occasions the latest being the 2022 CECAFA  Senior Women Championship and the 2022 Women Africa Cup Of Nations.
