KCCA FC promotes Ayella

KCCA FC promoted youngster Dominic Ayella from their Junior team ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 18-year-old forward, who is currently a student at Masaka Secondary School was unveiled by the Lugogo giants on Sunday evening during their KCCA TV show that airs on Sanyuka TV.

Sadam Juma finally departs KCCA

Midfielder Sadam Ibrahim Juma finally departed thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC.

On Sunday evening during the club’s weekly “KCCA TV” show on Sanyuka TV, the Kasasiro Boys also announced the departure of the midfielder after his contract expired.

“We thank you for the memories, and wish you the best in your journey,” KCCA TV Head of Communication Magero Moses Mwanje said during the KCCA TV show.

Sadam joined the Lugogo based side in March 2017 on a three-year employment contract. While at KCCA FC he spent most of his career at the club with recurring injuries.

Onduparaka FC adds duo to their squad

Onduparaka FC continued to strengthen their squad with two new signings.

The Caterpillars announced the signing of holding midfielder Simon Okot and goalkeeper Stephen Ogiramoi.

Okot who has previously played for Katwe United and Acholi Province joined the side on a two-year contract while former U-Touch player Ogiramoi signed a three-year contract.

With the duo added, Onduparaka FC has new now added 12 new players to their squad during the ongoing transfer window after capturing Emmanuel Okech, Emmanuel Odur, Gabriel Matata, Kennedy Atibuni, Jerry Jakisa, Bony Musema, Akoch Augustine, Jasper Okello, Nelson Opiyo, and Augustine Opoka.

URA FC gets new CEO

Henry Mayeku was announced as URA FC new CEO on Tuesday evening after a series of interviews with the club board to find Ivan Kakembo’s replacement whose contract ended in November last year.

Mayeku who was handed a one-year renewable contract with the four-time Uganda Premier League champions promised to take the club back to the top.

FAU confirms its first AGM.

The Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) confirmed the dates and venue for this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM)

FAU via their website confirmed Saturday, 12th September 2020 as the day the AGM will take place starting at 8:00 AM at Kenedia Hotel.

This is set to be the associations’ first AGM since becoming a FUFA member, a milestone achieved last year in September during FUFA’s Ordinary assembly that was held in Adjumani.

The assembly will be attended by the eighteen delegates from the nine-member associations that make up the FAU General Assembly.

Jakisa Jerry reportedly terminates his contract with Onduparaka

Defender Jakisa Jerry reportedly terminated his contract with Onduparaka FC just a few weeks after joining the Caterpillars on a two-year deal.

Via Dribbler Sports, Fred Lewandowski, allegedly players’ agent confirmed the development citing  failure to clear Jakisa’s sign-on fees within the specified time by Onduparaka.

CAF announces interclub competition dates and registration criteria

CAF: $10.8M relief to be advanced to MAs, competitions return dates to be announced

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the dates and released the registration criteria to be followed during the 2020/21 interclub competitions as well.

On Tuesday evening, Africa’s football governing body announced that the CAF Content Management System (CMS) criteria will be used in the registration of all participating clubs in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League.

Furthermore, Africa’s football governing body announced that registration of all eligible participants will take place from October to November 2020, with the first phase of registration scheduled for the 21st October to 5th November, while the second phase will take place between 6th and 19th November 2020.

The first leg of both the preliminary rounds of the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League will take place between 20th and 22nd November 2020, while second leg games are scheduled for the following weekend.

FUFA fines and orders Disan Galiwango to refund Express UGX.15m

The FUFA Dispute Resolution chamber this week decided on the matter reported by Express FC over the transfer of their former captain Disan Galiwango to Vipers SC.

Galiwango who joined Vipers from Express FC in June left the Wankulukuku based side in dispute after reportedly pocketing monies amounting to Fifteen million Uganda shillings (Shs. 15m) that were meant to get the player to extend his contract at the Mukwano gw’abangi which had ended at the end of the 2020/21 season.

In the decision, the FUFA Dispute Resolution chamber ordered the former Water and Express FC left-back to refund the Shs. 15m and also pay a sum of ten million Uganda shillings (Shs. 10m) for breaching his contract with Express FC to join Vipers.

To this effect, the FUFA also decided that they will only hand Galiwango a license to play in the upcoming StarTimes UPL season when the total amount he has been ordered to clear to the club is fully paid to the Express FC’s club account.

Bbosa’s prodigal luggage got heavier with Kakooza return

Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa added midfielder Mahad Yahaya Kakooza, another player he has worked with before, onto the list of new signings at the Wakulukuku based club.

The defensive midfielder joined Express FC on a two-year employment contract as a free agent after running out his contract at Tooro United.

Kakooza became the second player to follow Coach Bbosa wherever he has coached since his departure from Express FC in 2017. The other player is Godfrey Lwesibawa.

He also became the fourth player to have worked with Bbosa in any part of his career after Godfrey Lwesibawa (SC Villa and Tooro United) , Crispus Kusiima (Tooro United), and Abel Eturude (SC Villa).

 COVID crisis forces UPL Secretariat to shift  base

The Uganda Premier League secretariat was forced to temporarily shift base from Namboole to Lungujja due to the COVID-19 crisis.

In a press release circulated by the secretariat’s Head of Marketing and communications, Gordon Roy Mundeyi, the UPL confirmed that they will be moving to Lungujja at the FUFA’s Special Interest Groups offices because the Mandela National Stadium premises are being occupied as an institution quarantine center for COVID-19 patients.

Cheptegei’s 5000m World Record Wins Moment Of The Month

Joshua Cheptegei’s 5000m World Record won the Athletics Moment of the August.

This was conducted by the World Athletics body and Cheptegei beat three other nominees to the gong.

The Ugandan long-distance runner broke the 5000m World Record last month clocking 12:35.36 in the Diamond League in Monaco, France to erase a long-standing record set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele (12:37.35).

To winning the Month’s best moment, Cheptegei beat Timothy Cheruiyot who recorded 3:28.45 in 1500m at the Monaco Diamond League.

Tanoh Mwera Kpasaagnon receives his NFL Super Bowl ring

Ugandan NFL player Tanoh Mwera Kpassagnon who features as a linebacker for Kansas City Chiefs finally received his NFL ring that he won with his team earlier at the Super Bowl.

In a private ring ceremony held at the Arrowhead Stadium on Tuesday, Mwera along with his chiefs’ teammates received their rings after a few months’ delay due to the Coronavirus crisis that put sporting business across the world to a halt.

BUL FC confirms Ambrose Kirya as club’s eighth signing

BUL FC confirmed the captured of former SC Villa winger Ambrose Kirya at the Club’s offices in Masese, Jinja

Kirya joined the Jinja based club on a one-year working contract after his contract with the Jogoos had ended.

He became the club’s eighth signing after Isma Mugulusi, Aggrey Madoi, Davis Mutebi, Paul Mbazira, Peter Ozima, Kenneth Kibale and Elvis Bithum.

Isaac Nsengyiyunva became Express’s latest addition

On Friday evening, Isaac Nsengyiyunva was unveiled as the Red Eagles’ ninth signing of the ongoing transfer window, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

The 20-year old joined the other signings who include; Abel Eturude, Mustafa Kiragga, Richard Bbosa, Baker Sakah, Mahad Yaya, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Denis Otim, and Crispus Kusiima as the club’s additions ahead of the 2020/21 StarTimes UPL season.

AFCON trophy goes missing

The Africa Cup of Nations trophy that Egypt won for keeps after completing their three-peat in 2010.

With an aim to build a sports museum as a commemoration of 100 years of existence, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Friday announced the disappearance of some of the old trophy from the Association’s stores.

Moses Magogo wins Budiope East NRM primaries

FUFA President Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo was declared the ruling National Resistance Movement party candidate for Budiope East constituency after winning the party primaries held on Friday.

Magogo defeated his closest rival and the incumbent, Geoffrey Dhamuzungu, Takozekibi David Geoffrey, Kalwaza Mustapha, and Kirunda Sulaiman.

Magogo collected 59,951 votes representing 79.6% against Dhamuzungu’s 13,756 votes.

Onyango wins seventh league title with Mamelodi Sundowns

Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns beat Black Leopards 3-0 to win a record 10th PSL after title challengers Kaizer Chiefs drew 1-1 with Baroka.

Onyango who missed the game with an injury has now won seven PSL titles (3 with Supersport and 4 with Sundowns)

The government okays two Athletes to travel to the Czech Republic

The Government okayed two athletes, Winnie Nanyondo and Jacob Kiplimo to travel to Ostrava – Czech Republic for the 59th edition of the Golden Spike event scheduled to take place on Tuesday 8th September 2020.

Nanyondo will be going for the 1500m while Kiplimo will be competing in 10,000m.
